Yet another Quarter over ...

Yet another work quarter over ... friday 27th June 2008 marks the end of yet another Microsoft Promo .. and the end of my regular part-time job @ SiS again ...
For the past two years , I have always been going back to SiS to work during my hols .. to earn some extra pocket money for the next semester ... Going back has always been fun , as majority of the colleagues are fun-loving and friendly , quite little politics , or should I say I have been lucky to be able to clique with most of them .
We have hit our targets this round, Me and CY hitting our VAR target , and the sales teams hitting their Revenue targets .. Its been good news for all of us yesterday, with the last minute grab for sales ..
I always enjoy the adrenaline rush .. the mad frantic grab for sales last minute . having continous ringing phones . To me , its akin to fishing ... Every Call / Lead I made .. is a fishing line ... when its time to close the deals .. u reel in the lines to see if there are any fishes ... Yesterday alone , I reeled in 9 "fishes" .. a very fun experience I never seemed to get tired of ..
The experience is very rewarding .. to have a deal closed .. and to assist the sales teams in their targets .. to have everyone achieve their targets .. its juz solid ..
Going bowling with them later .. gonna enjoy their company coz its not gonna last anymore as I will be going back to Sch soon .. Although I will still be working once or twice per week, the fun will just be less intense.

Operation Crystal Gate - 22060X

Operation Crystal Gate broke another record ... with more than 30 Singaporean participants from Wargh! and other groups from Singapore .. Same old place , different adversaries .. different gameplay , different strategies .. it wasnt boring ..

The morning thunderstorm did not dampen our spirits as we still pressed on through the JB customs .. "Bukit Ramly" became super muddy , adding to the challenges of our missions.. Our guys started to warm up and have a little orientation of their weapons .. and brushed up on their skills .. while waiting for our "opponents'' to arrive ..

It was a world of a difference , as we were well geared in our BDUs , vests , personal masks and gears .. while our opponents were casually dressed in bermudas .. Sleeveless T-shirts , One hero boy even wore a singlet.. What the hell were they thinking ??

To be fair and to balance out the disadvantages , We became the attackers , taking the tougher job of Chionging up the hill , with the enemies outnumbering us .. Given this scenario , we had to fully utilise our Comms sets and our knowledge of the AO ( Area of Ops) ..

No prizes for guessing who won the games .. but to be fair , they got better each game , while the slippery muddy terrain made it much tougher for us to fully take advantage of the situation ..

The paintballs were truly "seeker" paintballs .. They seemed to love the Singapore flags .. I had one on my left arm .. and One on my chestplate on my vest .. both times I got killed , I got hit on the flags ... HurHurhur .. No one Loves Singapore .. Not even the Singaporeans who were firing @ ME !! ..

The end of the holidays are coming soon ... time to fully enjoy whatever time that is left , before going back to school again ..

The Reunion Of the Mambo Faithfuls ...

The title says it all ..

Its been so long since I enjoyed a good mambo night .. or should I say , gone for a mambo night .. Gone for 1 session 2 or 3 weeks back .. Would say it was a crappy session .. waited all night for Summer Rain ... And JUST AFTER I LEFT .. The bloody Summer Rain Came ...

BUT ALL IS NOT LOST !! 11th June marked the reunion of a few of us "Mambo-Faithfuls" .. especially with the special guest Appearance of JR ... who has sworn off mambo .. to adopt chilling out as the new option ..

It was a great night out .. meeting up with KX aka Marina South Girl (MSG) , SX , Sharon, JR (ps: Alan is a regular at Mambo) .. so NO big deal Wahahha .. while its been awhile since "MSG" , Sharon, JR and myself met up for some good mambo Jambo ..

The music was Not too bad ... the crowd was overwhelming .. I guess the JC kids were out in full swing .. coupled with probably half of Pulau Tekong in Zouk ... with lots of chao recruits and bunch of guys who behaved like they had to fall in and dance in syncro with the Mambo regulars..

Oh alritey , I was once like them .. hehe .. Saw one poor NSF who was obviously new to Mambo nights , struggling to figure out the dance steps and the songs , while his buddy beside him was trying hard to impress him with his knowledge of the songs ..

Gave him a friendly tap on his shoulder and told him to enjoy while he can while he is in NS !! Gotta "give a little respect" to the smart marketing fellows @ Zouk for making Wednesdays Ladies Nights , it sure attracts the ladies/girls/ aunties .. Hell yeah ... saw 3 aunties who were in Line Dancing attire , trying hard to fit in ..

Highlights of that night included 3 X Summer Rains .. What I missed the previous time round , the DJ made up for it .. had a great time "dancing with you in the summer rain" many many times .. and I am really convinced Summer Rain is definitely a crowd-Pleaser ... with the crowd yelling the familiar 1 ! 2! 3! 4 ! countdown to the chorus .. and the very standardised hand movements of Summer Rain ..

Wrapped up the night in true GOOD OLD JLC fashion , with "MSG" and me treating JR to Two Flaming Lamboghinis .. as a belated birthday treat !! Heh ..

People always tell me , Mambo is for Kids ... To them I say Bullshit !!... Mambo Jambo is for FRIENDS ! I enjoy Mambo for the music , for the Camaraderie when everyone sings together , I enjoy the company of JR , Alan , "MSG" , Sharon during the songs , the look of JR getting into the mood to "boogey"

It was definitely a good Mambo meetup ... A pity our dear Mr Phillip was Missing In Action .. Whata pity ..

A short trip to JB ....

An impromptu decision on Saturday to make our way to JB for good seafood ... and novelty in shopping and soon we found ourselves stuck at the Singapore Customs and Excise Checkpoint at Woodlands at 3plus 4pm on a Cooling rainy Saturday afternoon..

It was a mad rush for the queue at Singapore Customs as everyone struggled to keep in line to clear the customs ... Would recommend Singaporeans to try out the Biometrics Scanner on the left hand side of the checkpoint.

NO Pictures to show of the area as Photography is restricted. Some dumb ass Singaporean defied the No photography sign , took photos of his girlfriend in the area and promptly got screwed by the security personnel.

The queues for the buses snaked out into messy lines that were absolutely confusing ...but we took little time to figure out that all the buses went straight to JB customs and that was all we wanted ..

Surprisingly .. reached JB customs only to find out that there was a very short queue ! We cleared JB customs in less than 10 minutes.. What a pleasant surprise to the start of our trip ..

Went to City Square to shop around ... much more shops and more variety in shopping items .. accompanied the gals around to shop for shoes , clothes , but I ended up being the 1st one to buy and ended up buying 2 polo tees ...

An incident worthy to note : Saw a competition at City Square , organised by NEW STRAITS TIMES , some SuDoku Challenge.. The time came for the Champion and First runnerup to be announced. And a Chinese man and a Malay man both Malaysians .. got called up to the front of the stage.

In front of me was an elder malay man with his wife. When the chinese man's name got announced .. the malay man booed loudly , much to his wife's "amusement" or astonishment. His wife asked him what was that for , and he sort of mentioned that they should support their own race.

When the malay guy's name got announced , the malay encik cheered loudly.. This little incident sort of left me in deep thoughts ..quite bothered to know that there were such sentiments existing .. Not that I dun know it exists .. or rather to see it squarely in the face , is thought provoking.

** Race , Religion and Nationality are always sensitive issues , especially between Singapore and Malaysia... I am not trying to play any nationality or racial issues here .. just saw something that I thought I would wanna share here ...

Ended the day with our favourite seafood at Taman Sri Tebrau , at our usual stall ... Ordered Chilli Crabs , Deepfried BB SQuids , sambal Kangkong , StingRay , CrayFish and Fried buns for Dinner ... But Not before having Auntie Annie's Cinnamon rolls , Shihlin Deepfried Cutlets and Tempura at City Square...

The Food this time was a little disappointing ... The Chilli Crab was still good ... The Crayfish have shrunk in size .. The Stingray was bloody Charred and badly burnt .. Had a good mind to reject the stingrays .. but the girls reminded me that it was JB and Not Singapore ..

Well , I would believe in talking with reason .. I believe that if we asked politely as customers for them to replace the badly burnt stingrays .. any honourable restaurant would and should gladly replace the obviously burnt Stingray ...

Saw a handicapped uncle selling tissue for RM$1 ... We sort of rejected him .. but soon regretted it .. He left 2 packets of tissue for us to "consider" and we soon decided that we should help him out as a gesture of goodwill ... Personally I felt that the money wouldnt mean anything much to us but could possibly help him in a small way ... And he was making an honest living.

BUT ALAS ... somehow the uncle forgot about the tissue and We waited in vain. I tried looking around for him .. but to no avail. ** On a side note , a little contribution was made to another handicapped uncle in Singapore to "compensate" for the lack of help for the Uncle we met at Tebrau..

Overall , it was a good trip to JB , glad to be back to visit JB for some good food .. good visit .. and no hostility .. Looking forward to visiting the JohoR Go-karting park again ! If Only I could visit JB more often without feeling worried about safety and other issues ... Wouldnt it be nice ?
